The HWIL IT&E Engineer (E4) provides senior‑level technical leadership for the design, development, and implementation of real‑time, closed‑loop Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HWIL) test‑bed capabilities that focus on integrated test and evaluation (IT&E) of air‑vehicle software, firmware, and hardware. With 5+ years of relevant experience, you will operate with limited direction, set technical strategy, and influence program‑wide decisions while serving as the primary technical liaison to senior government and industry stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities
• Define and evolve the IT&E architecture for HWIL test‑beds, establishing standards for real‑time simulation, stimulus generation, data acquisition, and timing synchronization.
• Influence budget and schedule decisions; provide estimates and resource plans for IT&E subsystem development and test.
• Design, develop, and validate stimulation and measurement solutions (signal generators, DAQ, FPGA‑based stimulators, high‑speed I/O).
• Direct integration efforts, oversee debugging, timing alignment, and capability verification in real‑time simulations.
• Translate mission‑level test objectives into HWIL test cases and back‑log items.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and analysts, conduct technical reviews, and facilitate knowledge‑sharing sessions.
• Promote best‑practice documentation and training on IT&E tools and processes.
• Identify and implement process, tool, and automation enhancements to increase simulation fidelity, test efficiency, and data‑driven decision making.
• Drive adoption of advanced design tools (signal‑integrity analysis, high‑frequency simulation, automated test generation).
